ALUCOBOND® PLUS

ALUCOBOND® PLUS is a composite panel consisting of two aluminium cover sheets with a mineral-filled polymer core. It was specially developed for more stringent fire safety requirements in architecture. Thanks to the flame-retardant mineral core, ALUCOBOND® PLUS achieves better fire ratings than aluminium composite panels with a black PE core. The façade panel offers the proven product properties of the ALUCOBOND® family, such as flatness, formability, weather resistance and ease of processing.

Technical Specifications

  • ALUCOBOND® PLUS is composed of two aluminum cover sheets thermally bonded to a solid fire-retardant core.
  • The aluminum facings are nominally 0.020 inch (≈ 0.51 mm) thickness each.
  • Total nominal panel thickness is 4 mm (including the core) in many standard applications
  • It has been tested in wall assemblies under NFPA 285 and CAN/ULC S134 protocols (for flame propagation / exterior wall spread) in certain certified assemblies.
  • Surface burning characteristics (flame spread / smoke development) are classified; in certain assemblies it meets “Classified CC1” per the test report.
  • Minimum bending radius for 4 mm material (without routing the back skin) is about 4 inches. Without routing interior skin, the minimum radius is about 15 × thickness.

ALUCOBOND® PLUS circular is manufactured with 89% recycled aluminum. Using the mass balance approach, we have significantly increased the recycled content without compromising quality or processability.

Benefits:

  • Reduction of CO2 emissions: The CO2 emissions of the cover sheets have been reduced by 52% compared to conventional processes.
  • Circular economy: Production waste is recycled, the aluminum is remelted, and used for new panels.
