The statue of the national hero Ismail Qemali, now and forever will stay in Durres city. A planed initiative from Florentia Erjola Xheko and conducted by the sculptor Haji Kalluci, the monument Ismail Qemali, is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Independence of the country, adding to the city of Durres as a symbol of the history of the state. Poured in bronze statue of Ismail Qemali the signer of the first declaration of independence, it was placed on 27 November, in the park near the entrance of the sea port, close to the place where he came down from the ship, on 21 November 1912. In the historic prelude of the day when Albanian state was created, Ms. Florentia Erjola Xheko, was titled Honorary Citizen of Durres, because of taking the initiative to realize and establish the statue of Ismail Qemali Durres, with the support of City Hall, in honor of the historical figure of the Albanian nation at this 100- anniversary of independence. This milestone of 100 years ago when Ismail Qemali wanted to establish the flag in Durres, was neglected for one century from all regimes and governments. He returned today by Ms. Erjola Florentia Xheko who brought back to the city its nation father, Ismail Qemali, re-establishing this symbol of history not to be forgotten again from the memory of the generations to come.

Poured in bronze bust has a height of 110 cm and is set over two squared stone blocks.

In this way Ms. Erjola Florentia Xheko realizes her long-standing dream of expressing to the town of Durres deep gratitude for the high honor of being declared an honorary citizen. At the festive ceremony organized for this occasion was attended the Mayor, Mr. Vangjush Dako, and personalities of the city of Durres, from different fields. Ms. Xheko said “Durres is the place where Ismail Qemali began his journey to the Declaration of Independence, so let this memorable monument for the eternal symbol of this legendary figure. While Mr. Dako evaluated Ms. Xheko’ initiative as a contribution to the protection and preservation of the historic city, continuing “Yesterday some citizens of Durres, improvised the arriving of Ismail Qemali in Durres, raised the flag just like 100 years ago and today we choose this square, to have among us forever Ismail Qemali Vlora, this reformer and visionary figure of the new Albanian state ” .
